When buying a piece of fine jewellery, with the intention of wearing daily, it’s not uncommon to base your gemstone selection on your love of a particular colour alone. However, the durability of your gemstone selection should be a major deciding factor when making your decision as well.
It is for this reason, that we design exclusively with diamonds, sapphires, rubies and emeralds for rings designed for everyday wear.
The durability of gemstones is measured by Mohs Gem Hardness Scale (a universal hardness measurement scale system developed in 1812 by Friedrich Mohs, a German geologist and mineralogist.) Mohs measures a gem’s hardness and scratch resistance score from 1 to 10, 1 being the softest and 10 the hardest. The diamond is the hardest natural gemstone in the world and measures at 10.
We hand select all of our coloured gemstones to ensure quality as well as symmetry, smoothness, polish and uniformity in colour and light reflection.
