Wedding Planning Tips With Just About Weddings

After the big question comes the big day, and, there’s no better time to start planning than when inspiration hits. As you proceed to admire your beautiful new engagement ring on a daily basis, make sure to take some time to start making a list of wants and needs for the wedding.

In preparation for a flurry of florists, venues and cake flavours, we’ve partnered with Just About Weddings and their expert team who share some ultimate insider tips for making your wedding planning journey as smooth and stress-free as possible. Like us, they’ve done this thousands of times before, so if you’re looking for a guiding hand in all things wedding planning, they know exactly what to do.

They’re also offering an exclusive £500 off their Full Wedding Planning package for Taylor & Hart customers, so you can put it towards your honeymoon cocktails, so make sure to let them know we sent you.

This synergy between us is what ensures we dedicate all our time to making our customers happy. Whether it’s with the perfect bridal set or the best reception ever. Here’s how to best prepare for this exciting, slightly chaotic adventure.

Set Your Budget and Consider Your Venues

Decide on a figure that you’re comfortable with and do your utmost to commit to it. When venue shopping, avoid looking at options outside your price range as it might end in heartache. Falling in love with a stately manor when you’ve budgeted for a charming barn could only throw a spanner in the works.

Before you start diving into venue tours, spend some time brainstorming what you actually want from your wedding day. A grand banquet or casual garden party? A posh sit-down meal or festival-style food trucks? Deciding on your priorities beforehand will help you choose a venue that fits in with your vision board, rather than trying to shift your dreams to match the space.

Book the Big Suppliers Early

The key suppliers include caterers, photographers and entertainment. These are the ones that should be booked as a first priority to ensure you get the ones you want. Don’t worry too much about the finer details at this stage, as most suppliers will allow you to tweak things closer to the day.

This ensures you have more of a chance to secure the vendors you want without panicking about every last canapé option, and whether or not they know that Bruno Mars song you love so much. This might also be the stage when you could start looking at wedding rings for you and your partner.

Focus On the Important Details

It’s easy to obsess over the perfect welcome sign or table numbers, but here’s a secret: most guests won’t have a strong opinion about them either way. Save yourself time (and money) by sticking to only the most important things. It’s your vows and the party itself they’ll remember, not the colour gradient on your seating chart.

That being said, there are a few details that often get overlooked in the chaos and excitement. Have you chosen table linens or styling props for all tables, including the cake or gift table? Made a playlist for the venue or wedding coordinator to use? Checked that microphones are available for speeches? These small touches make a big difference, so be sure to tick them off.

Speeches: Less is More

When it comes to speeches, brevity is your friend. Try and keep them under five minutes per speaker and limit the number of speeches to four at most. Your guests are there to celebrate, not sit through a TED Talk on your wonderful relationship (as lovely as you both undoubtedly are).

Make Sure to Steal a Moment Together

You’ll want to carve out a little time during the day for just the two of you. Whether it’s a quick walk or a private moment with a glass of Champagne, take a breath, soak it all in, and remember why you’re there. The day will zoom by in a whirlwind of confetti and hugs, so make space to savour it.

Planning a wedding is a thrilling and joyous time, but can be overwhelming. With these tips and a bit of help from the professionals from Just About Weddings, you’ll be ready to tackle it all. Remember, it’s your day, make it as joyful, personal and stress-free as possible.
