This is Her Then: Jennifer Lopez’s Engagement Rings

When you’re a talented, business-savvy, stunning superstar, the odds are you’ll be grabbing life with both hands. Add to that, being a romantic soul who loves love and decades of experience, you might find yourself with an impressive collection of past relationships and (arguably) even more impressive jewellery. As the star of The Wedding Planner, Shotgun Wedding and Marry Me, Jennifer Lopez knows a thing or two about engagement rings. Let’s take a look back at some of the icon’s iconic jewellery.

After an 18-year hiatus, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck became an item again. The couple announced their engagement in April 2022 and we were stunned by her striking new five stone green diamond engagement ring design.

Nine months after they went public with their rekindled romance, Affleck proposed with a custom engagement ring that’s nothing short of exceptional.

By our estimates, Jennifer Lopez’s five stone engagement ring features an 8ct fancy vivid yellowish-green diamond. The beautiful yellow-green diamond is flanked by two elongated baguette diamonds, bookended by a matching pair of trapezoid diamonds.

Our appraisal places this unique design well within the seven figure range, with an estimated price of $3.5 million (£2.7 million).

Green diamonds are exceptionally rare. For context, the Aurora, the world’s largest purely vivid green diamond, is 5.03ct. It sold at auction for $16.8 million.

Sadly, the relationship did not have a happy ending, although with these two, you never know.

Fancy coloured diamonds occur naturally all over the world, but green is amongst the rarest of colours. It forms when the diamond is exposed underground to radiation, with yellow tones occuring due to a particular formation of nitrogen atoms in and around the diamonds.

If you love Lopez’s ring design but are looking for a more afforable option, consider swapping the ultra rare green diamond for a green sapphire or emerald. All of the designs below can be customised to feature a different centre stone and, when set with a 1ct emerald of green sapphire, begin at around £4,000 or $5,800.

Throwing it back to 2002, Ben proposed to Jen (the first time) at his mother’s house in Boston. Covering the house with a quilt of rose petals, Lopez was quoted in an interview with Diane Sawyer as describing the event as “So many candles, and vases, bouquets. And my song ‘Glad’ was playing … I walked in and I was just, like, overwhelmed. I wasn’t expecting it, and I was just like, ‘Oh my God.’”

Fast forward to 2004, and Bennifer was not to be. Due to the excessive media attention, the couple decided to call it quits (the first time). But let’s venture down memory lane and take a closer look at the details of the incredible pink diamond ring. Featuring a 6ct radiant cut pink diamond, set upon a platinum band with trapezoid accent diamonds, this engagement ring is worth around £2.5 million pounds.

If you love J.Lo’s ring but are looking for something slightly more subdued, check out our more affordable versions of the pink diamond piece. Featuring an emerald cut pink sapphire with either trapezoid side diamonds or tapered baguette side diamonds, these rings would be priced at around £3,500. Jennifer’s ring is similar to the Reverie ring that can be customised with a pink sapphire, which we can do with every single ring in our collection. While the triple-threat superstar may have once sang “don’t be fooled by the rocks that I got,” said rocks are actually very impressive indeed. Let’s take a look at Jenny from the Block’s previous bachelors and the fabulous engagement rings she received. In 2021, the singer was engaged to Alex Rodriquez. Featuring an incredible 20ct emerald cut diamond ring set within platinum, we speculate that the stone is of the highest quality, with a colour grade of D colourless and a clarity grade of internally flawless. Based on this assumption, we estimate the value of Lopez’s ring to be around £3.8M ($5M USD).

Known for their subtle elegance, emerald cuts are the preferred shape among celebrities for large engagement rings. Wearers are drawn to the sleek architectural beauty of the shape, known for its seamless fusion of light and dark planes called the “hall of mirrors”.

Jen’s engagement ring from Alex is very similar in design to our Utopia, an emerald cut diamond engagement ring within our collection. Above, we added a larger diamond to resemble Jen’s incredible piece, which we can recreate with any diamond size. Below, you can see what the 1ct version of the Utopia looks like, along with a few others of a similar style.

Lastly, we take a closer look at Jennifer’s spectacular blue diamond engagement ring given to her by her second husband, Marc Anthony. Costing around £4.5 million, this extremely rare 8.5ct light blue diamond is as special as J.Lo herself. The blue diamond is a sleek radiant cut, set upon a platinum band with trapezoid accent diamonds. Jen and Marc were married for over 10 years, so we hope the blue diamond brought them plenty of wonderful memories.

While Jen’s blue diamond is extraordinary, we have a selection of engagement rings that are quite similar in design and feel to the cushion cut work of art. Take a look at our Utopia engagement ring, set with a 1ct princess cut blue sapphire. Sapphires are a wonderful gemstone, with incredible durability and fire, and this particular engagement ring would cost around £3,000.

Just like her extensive discography and glittering filmography, Jennifer Lopez’s relationship history is full of love, drama, passion and diamonds. Who knows what the future may bring – a new man, a rekindled flame or a prolonged period of delightful singledom. All we know is: there will most likely be even more fabulous jewellery on the horizon and J.Lo’s always gonna be alright.
