Mean Girls’ Jonathan Bennett & TV Star Jaymes Vaughn’s Grool Engagement Rings

Jonathan Bennett, known for his role as the Aaron Samuels from the iconic film Mean Girls, is engaged to his longtime partner, TV star Jaymes Vaughn. The engagement was perfectly planned by Jaymes, who even took the time to write his love an original song. The engagement came as a complete surprise to Jonathan, who ‘began to ugly cry the ugliest cry anyone has ever cried.’ We can’t help but feel our hearts warming when we see a personal, thoughtful proposal like this one. And the engagement rings were every bit as meaningful.

The proposal unfolded in a sundrenched garden, surrounded by family and friends. It begins with Jaymes holding a sign that says “We never did find our song, so I wrote it for you”. His original love song starts to play, and Jonathan, bursting with tears, walks over to Jaymes who holds out his hand and proposes. The lyrics are beautiful:

“So this is our love song, and you can always put it on
Anytime you need to hear, I love you, I do.
And this love you can count on, to build you up and make you strong,
Anytime you need to hear I love you”.

Jonathan and Jaymes’s engagement rings are just as special. Jaymes had both custom made, with a chic minimal style that reflects both of their Californian lifestyle. The rings are identical, and made out of a brushed, satin platinum. The engagement rings feature a through the finger diamond pave, for some subtle sparkle. We estimate that a ring like this would have cost about £3000, which is about $4,050.

The engagement rings have a special meaning as for Jaymes and Jonathan, the ring acts as both the engagement ring and the wedding band. From the front, the ring looks like a classic men’s wedding band. However, as you turn the ring to the side you can see that it has a ring of channel set diamonds, which represents their engagement. To help mark the passage of their life from fiancés to husbands, Jaymes planned a special order of wearing the rings. While engaged, the men will wear their ring with the diamonds facing out for the world to see. Then, when they get married, they’ll flip the ring so that the diamond faces them, because, as Jonathan said, ‘life is more beautiful when we are together forever.’ We love their reinvention of the tradition of the engagement ring and wedding band. Who says you can’t have it all in one?
