FAQs
How much should I spend on an engagement ring?
It’s a question we hear everyday. And there’s no simple answer.
We can help you understand how each design element affects an engagement ring’s price, how to maximise your value for money and give you an idea of how much other people spend on their rings.
Love is a creative act—it makes its own rules. So why not establish your own rules when it comes to budgeting for your ring, rather than follow outdated notions about what’s right and what’s wrong? Read more on the cost of an engagement ring here.
What is the average cost of an engagement ring?
On average, our UK customers spend £3,500 on their engagement rings, but this is, of course, entirely dependent on design selection and stone quality characteristics. Read more about how rings are priced here.
How do I determine the right ring size for my partner?
Guessing your partner’s ring size correctly can be done with a little common sense. Learn more about average ring sizes as well as how to figure out you or your partner’s ring size here.
What are the most popular engagement ring styles?
Amongst our customers, we see the greatest popularity amongst solitaire and trilogy styles. Almost 47% of the engagement rings crafted in the first half of 2023 are a trilogy or solitaire design.
Which metal options are available for engagement rings?
We exclusively craft rings in platinum or 18ct yellow, white or rose gold. Each of these precious metals are not only iconically revered, but they’re all comfortable and durable enough for everyday wear.
What are the 4Cs of diamond quality?
The 4 Cs of diamond quality is a term coined by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). The GIA is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to producing consistent, accurate and unbiased grading reports.
GIA developed a grading system that determined the 4 Cs, carat, colour, clarity and cut, of a diamond. Each diamond is twice-inspected and graded by skillfully trained eyes and the assistance of modern technical tools to analyse a diamond’s quality. You can read more GIA and their grading process here.
Can I customise an engagement ring?
Absolutely! That’s where the fun begins. From the smallest tweak to a ring design imagined entirely from scratch, customisation is what we do best.
And if your love isn’t ordinary, why should your engagement ring be? Read our guide to customisation to learn the amazing ways a ring can be personalised–ignite your imagination and bring your ideas to life.
What is the significance of the centre stone in an engagement ring?
The head of a ring is made up of all the design elements that hold a stone in a ring. This includes the ring collet, which is the circular rim into which the centre diamond is set, and basket or the claws, which wrap around the centre diamond and secure it in place.
In most instances, this is the most expensive part of the ring because it’s home to the centre diamond or gemstone. Depending on personal style, price point or symbolism, a ring can be crafted with a natural diamond, a lab grown diamond, a coloured diamond, a precious gemstone like a sapphire, ruby or emerald–the choice is yours. Either way, it’s often said that you don’t choose the stone, the stone chooses you and sometimes upon first glance, there’s a feeling that it’s meant to be.
How do I choose the right diamond shape?
From the soft curves of an oval cut to the angular points of a princess cut, there are diamond shapes to suit all tastes and designs.
The decision on the diamond shape is perhaps one of the most important ones you can make when designing your diamond engagement ring. Each and every diamond shape and cut has its own beauty – it’s simply up to you to decide which one is your favourite. We know! Easier said than done.
How do I care for and clean my engagement ring?
We all need a little pampering every now and again. We recommend having your engagement ring cleaned and inspected every year or if it undergoes any trauma, like a knock or snag. Inspections may help prevent the loss of a stone and extend the life of your jewellery. We offer a complimentary lifetime annual care package service to our UK, US & EU customers.
What is the difference between a wedding ring and an engagement ring?
The clue’s in the name. An engagement ring is typically given and received during a proposal, and usually features a band with a centre diamond or gemstone. This person wears the engagement ring as a symbol of their upcoming nuptials.
Wedding rings are exchanged between two people during their wedding ceremony. Worn on the fourth finger on their left hands, wedding rings are often the only tangible symbol of their union. However, some people redefine tradition and choose to wear their ring on any of their fingers.
Some people choose to wear only a wedding ring, some just an engagement ring, some both and some neither–as with most jewellery, it’s personal preference.
Should I buy an engagement ring online or from a physical store?
It’s totally up to you. We want to say goodbye to daunting sales techniques and unclear processes, and say hello to human connection and advice that comes from the heart.
We’re redefining the way you shop for bespoke jewellery, wedding rings and engagement rings in London, with a showroom located near Monument/Bank tube station. When it comes to a design experience without limits, we’ve got you covered.

How far in advance should I start shopping for an engagement ring?

This will give you enough time to consider all of your options in terms of materials and styles, but it’ll also leave enough time for your ring to be meticulously crafted by our talented team of craftspeople.
