Behind the Design: Annie & Harry

For Annie & Harry, their love story started when they were both 16 years old and shared a love of Starbucks. After meeting at a friend’s party as teenagers, they got to know each other and ultimately grew up together over lunchtime lattes. Now, after more than a decade as partners, their engagement and marriage are both embodiments of a classic friends-to-lovers movie theme and also highlight their seriously good taste in jewellery.

The Ring

When Harry decided to propose, he knew the ring had to be a showstopper that celebrated the 11 years they’ve shared together. Annie is a fan of Art Deco, so Harry knew he wanted to include that touch in the design.

Since our Taylor & Hart designers are specialists at crafting personalised pieces, his dedicated consultant helped Harry bridge the gap between dream and reality. The stunning engagement ring features a round centre diamond, floral basket setting and a halo of diamonds. It merges classic vintage with fresh and modern, just as they wanted.

The Signature Stone is an aquamarine, which is Annie’s birthstone. It gives the piece a personal touch, which is fitting as one of aquamarine’s birthstone attributes is supporting self-expression.

Perfect ring in hand, Harry ran with the thoughtful and personalised theme and incorporated it into his unforgettable proposal.

I worked with Taylor & Hart to redesign elements of the ring, including the flower basket setting and halo, to make sure it was perfect.

The Proposal

The proposal itself was a magical mystery tour of London, a city that’s been their home since university. Harry’s well-thought-out vision included a treasure map and some cryptic clues designed for Annie to crack, like a detective.

He whisked her off to some iconic locations steeped in their shared memories and romance. A picturesque picnic at Battersea Park, a pint on Carnaby Street, taking in the views on the London Eye and even pedalos on the Serpentine.

The day culminated in Hyde Park, at the very spot where they play softball together. As the sun set below the London horizon, Harry proposed, capping off a day of love and adventure.

‘It was perfect,’ Annie recalls with a smile.

We’ve already been on such a journey together and we can’t wait to continue it.

A Future Full of Adventures

Having grown up together, Annie & Harry are no strangers to navigating life hand in hand and discussing their plans over a flat white. Their shared history filled with inside jokes, formative memories and countless adventures formed a rock-solid foundation for their future. As they look ahead, they envision more adventures, big and small.

Cheers to many more coffee dates, softball games and a life full of sparkles.
