Taylor & Hart open a workshop on Chancery Lane
We’re proud to share the news of our very first workshop opening in Holborn. Due to the ongoing success and growth of the company, we have expanded between three different locations across the capital. From our original office and showroom in Bank, we’ve opened an additional office and showroom in Mayfair, as well as the brand new workshop in Holborn. The opening of the workshop is truly a significant milestone, consolidating our production team to create a unified process and to build on our progressive company culture.
The workshop, located close to Chancery Lane tube station, is a short walk away from the iconic streets of London’s jewellery district, handy for sourcing gemstones and near to the London Hallmarking & Assay office. The workshop and new office was designed in collaboration between interior design agency, Caulder Moore, and fit out contractors, Oktra Reach. Featuring large windows that overlook Chancery Lane, light floods the workshop and office, with statement furniture pieces that offer subtle nods to iconic eras of design. The space was designed for sustainable productivity, with the wellbeing of our staff in mind.
The workshop supports our goal to continue creating an autonomous process of creating bespoke jewellery. By bringing some of the best craftsmen in Hatton Garden in house, we can begin to have an increasingly profitable production process while maintaining the highest quality in craftsmanship.
We’re excited that the workshop will allow customers to see how their ring is being crafted, right in front of their eyes. Involving the customer in the creation of their ring is already part of our DNA and we’re really passionate about advancing with this element.
With quality at the core of the business’ products and values, it was critical for us to develop in-house production capabilities that aligned with our brand’s ethos. The new production process gives us the ability to have greater control over our quality, a move that was inevitable for our company.
As well as employing talented, established craftsmen, we also like to hire beginners just starting in the industry–we’re passionate about developing and supporting young talent who are entering the jewellery crafting sector. We hope that the workshop will aid our long-term goal of further educating on the craft of bespoke jewellery, by not only working with jewellers at the top of their craft, but also promoting the development of young jewellers.
This is a real milestone for Taylor & Hart. We have grown so much over the past seven years that we’re now in a position to be able to open a workshop, allowing us the opportunity for staff development in our industry and crafting process. We’re excited by the prospect of having greater autonomy on the creation of our products.
As a company that focuses on using technology to innovate within and disrupt the jewellery industry, opening a workshop allows us to bring the process of making jewellery back to its roots, using traditional methods to hand finish each of our engagement rings.
By bringing London’s finest craftsmen into our own studio, we can continue to support the UK’s jewellery industry and ensure a seamless marriage between old processes and new.
