An American Love Story: Emma Roberts’ Solitaire Diamond Engagement Ring

What was that famous quote from It’s a Wonderful Life? ‘Every time you hear a solid gold bell ring, it means that another celebrity couple has got engaged.’ This time it’s Emma Roberts, known for her roles in American Horror Story, Wild Child and Madame Web, who has recently announced her engagement to fellow actor (and fellow blonde), Cody John.
The Scream alum posted a joyous selfie of the couple on Instagram, with her sparkling engagement ring on full display. In a playful caption, she wrote, ‘putting this here before my mom tells everyone’ – a cheeky nod to when her mother, Kelly Cunningham, accidentally spilled the beans about Emma’s pregnancy back in 2020.
This time, Cunningham let her daughter have her moment to sparkle, before reposting the happy news and adding her congratulations.

Holidating
Cody & Emma started dating in the summer of 2022 and their relationship has gone from strength to strength ever since. John first made their relationship public in August 2022 with a romantic Instagram post, with Roberts sharing rare glimpses of their romance on her social media as well.
The celebrity couple has been a picture of happiness since they became an item, with a source confirming to the media that ‘she’s been very content with Cody, and they’re enjoying their relationship and time together. Their friends and family are happy for the both of them and think they make a great couple.’
Their journey together has been filled with memorable moments, from celebrating New Year’s Eve hand-in-hand to attending Coachella in matching casual-chic outfits as well as enjoying a date night that ended in tears of joy over The Iron Claw. Their love story is proving to be as enchanting and (almost) relatable as it gets.
Emma shares a son, Rhodes, with ex-boyfriend Garrett Hedlund, but is said to have found a harmonious balance in her co-parenting relationship and we cannot wait to see her little boy in the role of ring bearer.

It’s a stunning round cut diamond in a solitaire setting with a thick gold band, which is a relatively unconventional choice, since most people favour a thin band to accentuate the size of their diamond. However, as Emma favours a vintage twist to her jewellery, this style really suits her aesthetic.
Our Design Director Kate Earlam-Chernley estimates the ring at around £65,000 based on the assumption that the 4Cs are all high, and has suggested a modification to the Lyra, Hope or Purity styles to recreate Emma’s ring.
This vintage effect suits Emma’s style perfectly, plus, round diamonds are thought to be especially romantic for engagement rings, as their shape is said to symbolise the never-ending cycle of eternal love. Ahh.
According to Kate: ‘At this stage, it’s challenging to see what the design is exactly, however it seems that there are no prongs on the outline of the diamond and the centre is bright and white. It leads me to think that it’s a 3ct round brilliant diamond, held within a platinum button back setting. This particular type of setting is a cut-out bezel around the diamond. The yellow gold shank tapers outwards, giving it a chunky and vintage feel, whilst being slimmer at the back maximises everyday comfort.’
We’re The Johns
Friends and fans, including delighted bestie, Lea Michele, left gleeful messages under the post. ‘Already planning the bachelorette!!!! So happy for you babe!!!’ enthused her former Scream Queens costar, Michele.
The lovebirds made their first public appearance as an engaged couple at the Summer Gala in Saint-Tropez and turned heads in coordinating outfits. But the bulk of the attention was certainly on Ms Roberts’ engagement ring.
