A Short n’ Sweet Look at 2025 Jewellery Trends

As we say bye, bye, bye to another year, it raises the question: what’s next? The world of jewellery is gradually getting more diverse and, dare we say, even more fun. From bold colours to vintage revivals, it’s clear that personalisation and self-expression are definitely the driving trends.

Some helpful in-house data and a deep dive into what consumers have been buying and searching, have given us a lot of fascinating insight into what’s to come. Just like social media trends, Top 40 hits and box office rivalries, the world of fine jewellery has its fair share of action.

We take a closer look at what’s been defining the scene this year and predict what’s on track to set pulses racing in 2025.

Brat vs. Demure: Balancing Proportions

Jewellery this year wasn’t shy about embracing extremes. On one end, chunky statement pieces reigned supreme, especially in rings and necklaces. They’re bold, unapologetic and perfect for commanding attention.

Meanwhile, more delicate, dainty rings continued their quiet dominance, making up 45% of engagement ring sales, which is a 5% increase from last year. For those who prefer understated and mindful elegance, the dainty trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Colours of the Year: Elphaba Green, Galinda Pink and more

When it comes to gemstones, colour has been wickedly popular. Green sapphire searches have skyrocketed by 400%. They bring a fresh, organic feel to any design, aligning perfectly with the rising demand for natural and earthy aesthetics. Pink and purple gemstones are also trending, bringing a whimsical, magical touch to jewellery.

On the other side of the rainbow spectrum are the deeper, moodier hues. Black diamonds, deep burgundy rubies and blood-hued garnets are captivating fans of more gothic and vintage styles.

WGSN has forecast that in 2026/27 we can expect palettes to highlight trends like Transformative Teal, Wax Paper (soft and neutral) and Fresh Purple, offering hues for every personality. If you want to get ahead of the curve, this is the direction to go.

Different Shapes and Sizes Hit Both Hard and Soft

The shapes and sizes of precious stones are ever-evolving, with oval and round cuts now officially tied as the most in demand. Ovals, in particular, are having a moment, especially in larger sizes, like the substantial 3ct diamond which continues to grow in searches across the UK and the US. Customers like to choose these oval shapes for their versatility and wearability, as well as a super flattering lengthening effect.

However, the real surprise has been the marquise cut, whose searches have surged by 50%. Meanwhile, hexagonal cuts have seen the biggest year-on-year search growth in the UK, and the classic Asscher cuts are on the rise in the US as well.

For those wanting to create an unexpected jewellery moment, elongated shapes like emerald and marquise as well as East-West settings have been very frequent customer requests.

It’s been fascinating to see the dominance of coloured gemstones. Green is constantly increasing in popularity, and blue sapphires are equally beloved in the US and UK.

Trilogy and Halo Hold’em

Halos continued to hold their ground this year, with their dazzling ring-light effect and the lovely trilogy style has been crowned the undisputed rising star. Colourful side stones have made a huge contribution to this jump, driving a 23% increase in popularity.

Trilogy engagement rings offer a chance to incorporate some light and shade while maintaining a classic silhouette, a win-win for anyone looking for a timeless yet personalised design. Our bestselling trilogy style, the Tamora, was so popular this year, especially the oval cut with green sapphire sides which showcases this fun trend in one beautiful ring.

We love to look at what our customers are interested in and find out what drives them and makes them feel connected to the pieces they choose.

Diamonds on Their Lab Grown Eras Tour

In a significant shift, lab grown diamonds account for 64.12% of engagement ring sales, while natural diamonds have dropped to 29.15%. Customers are increasingly curious about lab grown options, citing their affordability and similar appearance to natural stones.

80% of customers have been leaning more and more towards lab grown now, knowing they can opt for a larger stone that will be budget-friendly and look just as beautiful. It’s a trend that’s only set to grow as the focus on savings increases.

Vintage and Gothic are Both Hot To Go

Vintage engagement rings and jewellery are having a big resurgence. Floral motifs, romantic designs and gothic influences topping many inspiration boards. The rise of dark and moody aesthetics, coupled with a love for fantasy-inspired styles, speak to an ever-growing desire for jewellery that tells a story. This trend aligns with repetitive customer requests for organic, earthy and floral themes.

That’s That Me(tal) Espresso

While platinum remains the most popular metal for engagement rings, its popularity is waning slightly. In contrast, 18ct yellow gold is making a notable comeback, appealing to those who like that warm and vintage aesthetic. Rose gold is taking a bit of a time out compared to previous years.

It’s Giving: 2025

Florals: With natural themes dominating customer requests, floral rings and jewellery are set to bloom even more.
Fantasy-inspired designs: elvish rings, dragon scales, plus romantic, whimsical aesthetics will reign.
Coloured gemstones: Beyond green sapphires, look for rich shades like teal, pink and purple, all gaining traction.
Dark and gothic: For those with the flair for the dramatic, black diamonds and moody aesthetics are on the rise.
Elongated cuts: Oval, marquise and elongated cushions remain at the forefront of interest.

What’s next?

As we say farewell to the year of One Day, Andrew & Amelia, and Domingo dominance, we look ahead to what’s next. Jewellery trends in 2025 are set to reflect a growing desire for individuality and meaningful designs.

Whether it’s the rise of coloured gemstones, the dominance of lab grown diamonds, or the return of vintage romance, one thing is clear: personal expression is at the heart of it all.
